Record-Setting Late Season Great Lakes Ice Cover

As April quickly comes to an end, nearly one-third of the Great Lakes are still covered in ice, which is unprecedented in records dating back more than three decades. The normal ice cover for this time of year is 2%. The third week of April also saw below normal precipitation and temperatures across the Midwest, with above normal snowfall in portions of the upper Midwest.
