Our friend and colleague, Maria Peters, passed away February 5, 2009 after a three and a half year battle with breast cancer.
Maria began working at the Illinois State Water Survey in 1999 as our weather observer, and then joined the MRCC in 2000 as a Service Climatologist, responding to telephone and email requests for weather and climate data. Maria's personality and knowledge were the foundation for her reputation for outstanding customer service at the MRCC. She was always willing to pitch in and help with whatever needed to be done.
Everyone who knew Maria could not help but be inspired by her friendly, cheerful personality and positive outlook on life.
She is survived by her husband Todd and two young children, daughter Hadley and son Ian, extended family, and many friends.
We miss her very much. xxx
